It was a long bout, much more than the normal 24 hour bug. We thought we were in the clear when early Tuesday morning, Zoe became ill. Hers was a little more serious and got to the point where she would go 10 hours with no symptoms and then all of sudden start again to the point of not even being able to hold down a small sip of water. We ended up spending our Thursday in the hospital getting her IV fluids from dehydration. Getting that IV in was a trick in and of itself and took 3 people to hold her down and one to put in the IV. That was really, really hard to watch, especially when she looked at you like, "Why are you letting them do this to me?" This is one of those times where we just had to trust that we were doing the right thing, and that she just wouldn't be able to understand. Regardless, seeing your baby girl lying lifeless in a hospital bed for almost 7 hours isn't my idea of fun. But let me tell you, by Friday, she was almost 100% again. Amazing what a bag of fluids will do for a little body.
And even more amazing that this bug lasted over a week in our house and Darin and I missed it *knock on wood*. I think maybe 4 bottles of lysol, two bottles of germex, and a large bottle of soap might have helped.
Anyway, here's some of what's going on at the Buscher household. Lots of spending time outside...lots of randomness now that Darin's home for the summer.
This little guy is almost solely walking. He still doesn't know how to get up from the ground, so he'll crawl somewhere he can pull up and walk to wherever he wants to go. I absolutely LOVE these first few weeks of toddles. Those little arms sometimes go straight up in the air to help hold his balance, sometimes just up towards his chest like in this video. So sweet. He's been able to walk several steps at a time since about 11 months, and across the room since about a year, but this week was the first time he initiated walking on his own with no prompting from us. Now he's everywhere. Even in the toilet. Ahem.
And this little girl might just be a future slugger...one that glistens, not sweats. Gotta keep some girly aspects there. :) She loves anything dealing with the outdoors and balls. The odd thing is that she hits more naturally as a lefty, but she does most other things with her right. At any rate, I'd imagine that when she turns 4, we'll be registering for T-Ball.
