This is the story of the "yucky bug".

It's summer in Arkansas. It's hot. It's humid. And there are bugs. Lots of them. There are bugs outside. There are bugs that somehow get inside. And because of the Arkansas flood that occured last month, there are a lot more bugs inside than usual. And according to our daughter, they're all "yucky".

About 178 times a day, we'll hear, "Mommy, it's a yucky bug." We might even hear a "Go away, yucky bug." Well...this morning as I'm nursing Ethan, Zoe decides to make her presence known in the room by letting me know as usual that there is a yucky bug in the house. Ever since our 14 inches of rain during the month of May, we've had these little centipede type bugs. You can barely see them...unless you're only 34 inches from the ground, that is. Then, you see them all the time. They're about an inch long and very skinny with about 100 legs. Maybe they really are of the centipede breed. I don't know...I'm not quite caught up on my bug studies.

So she decides to converse with the yucky bug this morning. The conversation went as follows: (Warning: It will look like a two sided conversation. But as you know, bug's can't speak human, so this particular conversation will only be one sided with an occasional line from Mommy).

Zoe: Mommy, look at the yucky bug!

Mommy: Yes, Zoe, I see that yucky bug.

Zoe: Hi, yucky bug! How are you?

**Zoe now proceeds to get down her hands and knees to get a closer look at the yucky bug**

Yucky bug: (Silence)

Zoe: Crawl this way. Go over here! (wanted yucky bug to crawl in the trundle drawer under Ethan's crib)

Yucky bug: (Hearing crickets chirp now)

Zoe: No, this way! Stop!

**Now plops on her stomach to get even closer to yucky bug**

Yucky bug: (Proceeds to crawl further away from the giant with grubby hands)

Zoe: Where are you going? Go over here. (Points to desired destination)

Yucky Bug: (Still nothing)

Zoe: You're a yucky bug.

Yucky Bug: (Tick...tock....tick....tock)

Zoe: (Now attempting to squish yucky bug with the child sized rocking chair). Where'd yucky bug go? Oh, der (there) he is!

Yucky Bug: (Finally makes his way to Ethan's closet door and disappears praising the fact that he didn't get squished and still has all hundred legs).

Zoe: Where'd yucky bug go, mama?

Mommy: He went bye bye.

Zoe: Bye bye yucky bug. See you later.

I sooo wish I'd have had a camera to have captured this on film. Too funny. It was so hard not to sit over there and laugh. She was so genuine to her yucky bug friend. She's gotten so conversational...apparently with everything that moves....and sometimes even with things that don't move.
