Shoe Diva

So we bought a pair of purple crocks at the Duck Duck Goose sale back in April for Zoe. CUTE shoes...not a lot of purple clothes. She's figured out how to put on shoes now and take them off, so she thinks she can pick out whatever shoes she wants. Sometimes we end up with her black patent church shoes with winnie the pooh overalls...but hey! (And no, I really don't let her go out of the house that way) The "pwetty puhple butterfly shoes" are her top choice....for EVERYTHING! They don't match...that bothers her obsessive compulsive mother....ahem.

So walmart trip to buy new crocks, here we come. It was just a girls outing. Darin stayed with little man. We get back to the shoes, and here's the conversation between me and my little shoe diva.

Zoe: "Look, Mama. Pwetty shoes! How bout purple?"

Me: "No, Honey, how bout we look at some different ones."

Sidenote: By now, she's already in the middle of the aisle...on the floor...taking her shoes off.

Zoe: "Mama, how bout yellow?" Now getting up to get the yellow ones...ones that are size 11 mind you.

Me: "No, how about we look for some pink ones since most of your clothes are pink?"

Zoe: "How bout green? How bout these?"

Me: "No sweetheart, those are too big for you."

Zoe: "Oh. How bout these?"

Me: Cringe...they're crocks with fuzzy stuff on the inside and the gosh awful ugliest color you've ever seen. "Ummmm...no. Look, here are some pretty pink ones."

Zoe: Trying on the ugly shoes by now. Can't get them on. Chunks them across the aisle causing an old lady now coming down the same aisle to trip.

Me: "Oh, Honey, say your sorry. You need to sit close to Mama and keep your shoes by you."

Zoe: "Zoe sowwy. Oh, mama, how bout these?" By now we've ventured to a different aisle.

Me: "Look, Zoe, these are the exact same shoes as your pretty purple butterfly shoes. Let's get these. Do you like them?"

Zoe: "Yes"

So when we get home, she's already sporting the new pink butterfly crocks. Her daddy walks in the room and she promptly shows him and then says, "Daddy, wear shoes." She's handing him her old purple pair. She was insistent on him wearing them...even though they barely fit on his big toe. HAAAAD to get a picture of this. PRICELESS! He on the other hand, not so thrilled at my quick camera action. Hehehe...

  3. There is something that gives us bloggy moms such sweet satisfaction in torturing our husbands all for the sake of memory preservation.

    Sweet victory, Alison. Sweet victory.

P.S...Just wait till Ethan wants the weird Pokemon shoes and throws a temper tantrum for the weird Pokemon shoes, although he has never watched Pokemon, but something about the Japanimation speaks to him in the shoe aisle. Not that I would know anything about that. Ahem.
